Dress For Success: Why Style Matters
byWomen have known for years that the way they dress impacts the way they feel and they are served incredibly well by the media who help them find their style and wear it with confidence. But what about guys?
GenXers i.e. thirty and forty something guys in particular often find this a challenging area, caught at the cross-roads between our younger selves and our parents. Not as comfortable as we once were with logo t’s and trainers but nowhere near ready for the comfortable slacks and jumpers.
For some it is our wives, girlfriends and partners that choose what we wear, for others not, but it can be a difficult decision made all the more difficult by a lack of practical information and the fact that no one store or brand caters 100% for GenXers needs.
The way you dress can be life changing and if your plans include improving your job prospects then think on this for a moment – 93% of a first impression is non-verbal and people make their mind up about you within 30 to 40 seconds of meeting you. They look at the overall impression that you create. They scan you up and down trying to work out whether you look capable of doing the job and a large – albeit subconscious – part of the decision making process is complete before you have even opened your mouth!
Being well dressed in an interview situation indicates to your potential employer that you are both capable and efficient; two very important qualities but it takes more than just donning a suit to make a good impression. Does the style suit (no pun intended!) are your wearing clothes that match your Colour Group? Some might think that this kind of area is not for them but ultimately wearing clothes that suit both you and the occasion boosts your self-confidence. And whether you are after a promotion at work, attending a job interview or out on a date with a potential new or current partner that extra self-confidence can make all the difference.
Self-confidence can make you more successful and as women will attest, it also makes you sexier.
